Baby Massage – How It Could Benefit Your Baby

Baby massage has been known to have a lot of benefits that can help the growth and development of the child. These include proper digestion, weight gain and improve circulation. Research also shows that massaging your baby lowers the risk of mental health when he grows older.

In this time, both parents need to work to provide their family’s cost of living, thus, it could be hard to devote your time with your baby. A massage helps both the child and a parent to bond where the baby feels physical and emotional closeness.

It is also a great relaxation and reduces stress hormones. This is ideal to incorporate during bed time and develop a regular pattern for newborns.

This is also the best time for dads who cannot breastfeed their baby and have a close connection with his partner. It helps decrease the amount of stress where he can regularly meet the smiles and eye contact that gives the feeling of calmness and relaxation. This is also a great way to give a special time after a busy day.

Try to pick a time to massage your baby when he is awake, between feeds, or before a bedtime routine. Your baby’s skin is soft and sensitive. Putting baby oil (like vegetable or almond oil) or moisturizer can gently help your hands glide smoothly over your baby’s skin. Just remember you don’t put oil on your baby’s head or face that may lead to a serious problem.
